Job description
We’re looking for creative writers to engage with guests at events, presenting them with their own verses and short poems. No professional experience is required - it’s the perfect place to kickstart your writing career. Events will take place in London and across the UK.
This is a casual, freelance opportunity, so we’ll contact you about shifts to see if you’re available. You must register as self employed, meaning you will be responsible for your own taxes.
What you'll be doing:

You’ll have roughly 5 minutes to adapt or write a short poem for each guest

You’ll write a collection of poems in advance to cover a range of situations and topics, to make your job easier on the day

Writing in your own style, either hand writing or using a typewriter - we’ll provide everything you need

Developing your technique and portfolio whilst you work

Network with hundreds of people
You're perfect for the job if:
Essential

Experience in creative writing, whether it’s done professionally or for yourself

You wish you could get paid to write poetry all day

Your writing style is suitable for a range of people, including families and children

You’re a great communicator who’s confident speaking to people and working around them

You’re willing to work weekends and evenings, and travel for your shifts

You are registered as self employed in the UK, or willing and able to register as self employed in the UK prior to your first shift, as this is a freelance opportunity

You are eligible to work in the UK

You live local to London, Manchester or Bristol
What we offer:

£25 per hour, shifts averaging between 4-7 hours (minimum of 4 hours per shift, but no minimum hours guarantees each month)

Up to £25 travel expenses paid per event

How to apply:
Before you apply, please complete the following task.
Task (10 minutes)
As part of your application, you'll be asked to submit a short poem or verse you write on a 5 minute timer. The subject is up to you. This task is to demonstrate your ability to write on demand.
If you find the poems take longer but it still sounds like the role for you, you are welcome to create templates and keep collections of inspiration from previous pieces to adapt in new ways.
